Seeking research volunteers to test technologies for stroke upper limb rehabilitation

FHT is inviting stroke survivors to participate in a study to try out devices aiming for improving post-stroke upper limb rehabilitation.

by Xiong Yap

Stroke survivors commonly suffer from upper limb sensorimotor impairments that limit the ability to participate in daily life which often leads to reduced independence and quality of life. Novel technology-based therapy approaches provide motivating, virtual rehabilitation exercises. These rehabilitation technologies are expected to train without permanent supervision through caregivers or clinicians; and can, hence, reduce the resources required by medical facilities to provide therapy and make therapy more accessible for stroke survivors after discharge from inpatient facilities.

We are looking for individuals with stroke to participate in our study. This study is conducted to (i) document and understand the rehabilitation experience and expectations of stroke survivors in Singapore and (ii) identify desired user needs and requirements for upper limb rehabilitation technologies at the Singapore-ETH Centre.

  • Had a hemorrhagic or ischemic stroke
  • Aged between 21 and 85
  • Have problems with arm and/or hand
  • Able to sit on a chair for 1 hour
  • Able to communicate in English

What to expect

  • Test different arm-hand rehabilitation technologies and the research team will record your feedback (no more than 2 hours per session)
