Dr Abhijit VISARIA
Principal Investigator of Early Detection of Health Risks and Prevention
Dr Abhijit Visaria is a Principal Investigator of Early Detection of Health Risks and Prevention module at Future Health Technologies, at the SEC. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Ageing Research and Education (CARE), Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore.
Abhijit’s research on ageing involves using quantitative data to study social networks, psychological wellbeing particularly resilience and loneliness, health expectancy, use of technology by older adults, and work and retirement.. He coordinated data collection in 2019 for wave 2 of THE SIGNS Study, a nationally representative survey of older adults in Singapore, and was responsible for the study’s data quality checks and data management.
He is a Co-Investigator on the National Medical Research Council, Singapore-funded Healthy Longevity Catalyst Award on “Towards Personalization: Identifying Life-History Patterns of Loneliness as the Basis for Effective Early Interventions” during 2021-2022. He received his Ph.D. and M.A in Demography from the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining CARE, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Asia Research Institute jointly with the Centre for Family and Population Research at National University of Singapore.
