Prof. Marcus ONG
Principal Investigator of Early Detection of Health Risks and Prevention
Prof. Marcus Ong is a Senior Consultant and Clinician Scientist, at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Singapore General Hospital. He is also the Director of Health Services Research Center, SingHealth Services; Associate Professor and Director, Health Services and Systems Research, DukeNUS Medical School; Medical Director, Unit for Pre-hospital Emergency Care; and Chairman, Pan Asian Resuscitation Outcomes Study.
He has a medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 1993. He completed his fellowship in Emergency Medicine with the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, Scotland, and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore; fellowships in Emergency Medical Services and Pre-hospital Care in Canada and USA; and obtained Master of Public Health at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Prof. Ong has more than S$14 million research grants and published more than 190 articles in international and local journals, which include geospatial diseases mapping, clinical drug trials, resuscitation and cardiovascular sciences, pre-hospital emergency care, and biomedical engineering. He patented inventions using Heart Rate Variability for risk prediction of acutely ill patients and cooling solutions for therapeutic hypothermia.
