Dr Olivier LAMBERCY

Principal Investigator of Connected Rehabilitation Technology and Assistive Devices

Dr Olivier Lambercy is an Adjunct Professor and the Deputy Director of the Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory, in the Department of Health Sciences and Technology at ETH Zurich. He studied Microengineering at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, where he received the MSc degree in 2005. He completed his PhD at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2009, in collaboration with Simon Fraser University (SFU), Canada and Imperial College London.

During his PhD, he investigated robot-assisted rehabilitation of hand function after stroke, and participated in the design and development of four dedicated robotic devices for forearm, hand and finger rehabilitation. He also performed several clinical studies using the developed robotic tools on post-stroke participants in Canada and Singapore, in close collaboration with Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) where he was visiting researcher.

In January 2009, he joined the Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory, where he continues his research on robot-assisted therapy and assessments, as well as the use of haptic devices for various medical applications. Dr. Lambercy serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation.
