Dheeraj Jha

PhD researcher of Early Detection of Health Risks and Prevention

Dheeraj is a PhD Researcher in the Early Detection of Health Risks and Prevention module of the Future Health Technologies programme. His current research focuses on the assessment of hip fracture risk involving subject-specific models for predicting the mechanical response of human hips under the impact. He will work on finding the effectiveness of the preventive measures in the event of fall of the elderly population.

Before joining the FHT, he worked at GM (General Motors) for more than 7 years and has experience in vehicle dynamics, product design, morphing, optimization, and CAD/CAE (Computer-Aided Design/ Computer-Aided Engineering) tools. He did Occupant Injury Assessment for the GHBM (Global Human Body Models) by modelling of body parts into detailed element structures, creating material models, assigning joint behaviour, and setting up restraint systems. One of his research outcomes, Load Deflection System for small overlap impact, is currently under review at the USPTO (US Patent and Trademark Office). His master’s thesis, design robustness of 9-Speed Automatic Transmission, was awarded a defensive publication by GM.
