Giorgio COLOMBO
PhD researcher of Early Detection of Health Risks and Prevention
Giorgio is a PhD Researcher in the Navigation Ability and Cognitive Decline team in the Early Detection of Health Risks and Prevention within the Future Health Technologies programme at the Singapore-ETH Centre.
Before joining the Singapore-ETH Centre, he gathered research experience at the Wayfinding Lab at Bournemouth University, where he conducted numerous studies on spatial perception and cognition. He also joined the Memory & Learning Lab at the University of Padua to deepen the relationship between humans and the environment. More specifically, he addressed issues of Environmental Psychology, such as the effect of the built environment on navigation and working memory.
At present, he is leveraging advances in Virtual Reality and gaming technology to develop a battery of tests that will expose the link between cognitive decline and locomotion deficit and wayfinding.
Research interests
Giorgio's research focuses on the relationship between cognitive decline and effective navigation in the space. Another area of interest concerns the effect of the environment (built, outdoor, virtual) on human cognition to introduce solutions to improve human health and well-being.
