Dr Rita Cheng awarded 2021 ACRM Fellowship for Clinical Investigators
FHT's Dr Rita Cheng will use the opportunity to learn, network and advance her research on stroke rehabilitation.
Dr Rita Cheng, Postdoctoral Researcher in FHT’s Connected Rehabilitation Technology and Assistive Devices module, was awarded a 2021 American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) Integrative Rehabilitation Research Mentoring & Career Development Fellowship.
The fellowship will include participation in the yearly ACRM annual conference in September, networking events, presentations and a mentorship opportunity.
"I am very honored to be awarded the ACRM fellowship and am proud of being part of the organization," Dr Rita Cheng said. "This fellowship offers not just access to the latest research in rehabilitation medicine, but also the opportunity to participate in various networking groups to learn from researchers worldwide. As such, I will be able to share my work and receive input on improving healthcare, especially for patients with stroke. Moreover, the upcoming ACRM conference will discuss topics like robotics, assistive technology, and mobile health - all highly relevant to my work in FHT."
She hopes to bring back insights in study design, result interpretation, and discussion to FHT. At the same time, she is eager to build her leadership skills, and potentially shape her future career by learning from her peers and seniors.
The ACRM is a non-profit association focused on improving the lives of disabled people. Its 3,000 members work with professionals in hospitals, universities and advocacy and rehabilitation organisations worldwide. The inaugural fellowship is granted to talented clinical investigators from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds and gender identities.
